The Tales of POTOS are stories with animal characters, explaining the origin of the main character's distinguishing trait and or behavior. Every trait or behavior in the tales had been earned by the main character. There may be content in these books that deviate from certain belief systems, but it should be understood that the author writes stories that are reflective of the history, diversity, and range of traditions, beliefs and superstitions, morals and values, of the Philippine culture. It should be explained to the young reader that the tales are not real, but were written for the purpose of entertainment. The most avid aim of the author is to deliver moral guidance and valuable lessons from her stories. Likewise, the author is also not endorsing or supporting any superstitions. Tales of POTOS stands for Pearl of the Orient Seas, which is what the Philippines is also known as.
